Surrounded by Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace, and Jongmyo Shrine, Bukchon Hanok Village is home to hundreds of traditional houses, called hanok, that date back to the Joseon dynasty. The name Bukchon, which literally translates to "northern village," came about as the neighborhood lies north of two significant Seoul landmarks, Cheonggyecheon Stream, and Jongno. Today, many of these hanoks operate as cultural centers, guesthouses, restaurants, and tea houses, providing visitors with an opportunity to experience, learn, and immerse themselves in traditional Korean culture.

During this tour, we will be learning about Bukchon Hanok Village by listening to commentary on the history, structure, and living culture of the Hanok

The event is free of charge but registration is a must.

※ Minors cannot register for this tour. (Only Adults)

Yongsan Senior Welfare Center is located in Hannam-dong, and they cater to Korean elderly where the elderly can congregate, participate in various activities, and unwind. The center is also home to a cafeteria where elderly folks have their lunch. They feed about 300-400 Korean grandmas & grandpas. They require assistance with food distribution, kitchen cleanup, and helping elderly people with mobility issues. Your assistance is needed because they lack the manpower to help out at the cafeteria.

⇒ Volunteer Certificates can be issued if needed. If you have a 1365 ID, please include that and your DOB when you register.

20250416_Eunpyeong Hanok Village Tour and Watercolor Painting Activity

20250416_Eunpyeong Hanok Village Tour and Watercolor Painting Activity

Did you know that Seoul has another hanok village—and it's not Bukchon? Eunpyeong-gu, one of the districts of Seoul, is home to a hanok village with newer and modern hanoks. Located in Jingwan-dong, Eunpyeong Hanok Village offers a quaint and serene landscape, with Bukhansan Mountain serving as a stunning backdrop to the modern, neatly built hanoks.

On Wednesday, April 16th, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., the Itaewon Global Village Center will take a trip to Eunpyeong Hanok Village. To help us unwind from our daily routines, we’ll enjoy a short tour of the village and take some photos. After the tour, we’ll visit the Eunpyeong Hanok Museum, where we’ll color a drawing of Eunpyeong Hanok Village using watercolor paints.

Please note that there will be no instructor for the watercolor activity. It’s a DIY kit, allowing us to sit and paint at our own pace while enjoying the beautiful scenery of Bukhansan Mountain and the hanok village. (Note: location of the painting class is subject to change depending on the weather.)

The participation fee for this class is 5,000 won for the DIY watercolor painting kit. Advanced payment for the class is REQUIRED. I will email you all the details (including payment details) once you have completed the registration.
